Hard-KOR Rocker Panel Protection for ZJ Grand Cherokee Rock Sliders

After being trail tested all over the Southwest (home of big, BIG rocks) and then beating them senselessly on the Rubicon Trail and at Moab, UT Jeep Trails over the last three years, it looks to me like a set of Rocker Panel Protection Sliders (LP-1 and RP-1 sliders) protects MUCH better laterally, and as good or better from underneath as ANY other name-brand heavy-duty slider designs that I have seen out there.  And, when comparing, check to see if our competitor offers a Lifetime Warranty.  If not, consider another direction, because the last thing you need is a knock-off design which damages your rig when you come down hard on a rock.  The whole concept here is to PROTECT your rig, not buy a steel product that DAMAGES your rig!

The reason I mention this is that we've seen several knock-off rocker panel protectors made with round tubing bend upwards, crushing the rocker panels on the owner's Jeep.  You certainly don't want to have your rocker panel protection crush under the weight of the Jeep when coming down hard on a rock, so our design utilizes a thick-wall square tube, rather than the thinner-wall stuff that others use.  With square tube, you get FAR more surface area to absorb the impact from the rock than round tube does, and as a bonus, offers a much safer step for accessing the roof rack.

During the design process, I decided that I also wanted them to stick out a little further than what was on the market so that I could protect the doors from large rocks.  After all the trails I've run, I STILL haven't gotten any body damage on the doors!!!  (the bumpers are another story, LOL!)

Hey Kevin, just wanted to drop 'ya a line and say thank you very much for awesome products and great support! I installed My ZJ sliders recently, and had a chance to test 'em out last weekend in Moab. Attached is a picture showing the sliders going to good use on Hell's Revenge. THANKS A LOT, Jeff W., Alpine, UT

Regarding cost, I figure that at the prices below, you can't possibly go wrong!  You're protecting your Jeep from extremely costly damage, you're protecting the paint on the doors, and you're making your trail experience FAR more safe for you, your Jeep, and your family.

The more price comparisons you do, the better bargain our Rocker Panel Protection Sliders become.  These are a lower-tier in pricing and top-tier in protection, and come ready-to-paint as well as being easy to touch up with spray paint after banging into rocks.  Now available is an Extreme Duty version which is identical externally, but has stronger mounts on it than the original LP-1 to offer even further protection against bending when abused badly.  Bear in mind that ANY steel product will bend if hit hard enough, so I created a model called the LP-1 Extreme Duty, which will resist bending even more when putting your Jeep through the rigors of offroading, but will require two small 2" wide notches to be cut in your rocker panel pinch seam on each side (neither the Original LP-1 nor the LC-1 or RP-1 require any pinch seam trimming).

Due to the ever-increasing cost of powdercoating, and until I have an extra $100k laying around for our own powdercoating setup, I've discontinued the option to have them done prior to shipment.  There are two options: you can search around and see if a local company will get you taken care of (paint or powdercoat) or you can order up a set of JKS SuperNerfs HERE.  I recommend using a good quality primer like Krylon and then an overcoat of semi-gloss black Krylon.  Another option is POR-15, but I've never used it, so can't give you much in the way of advice there.  Bear in mind, however, that ALL coatings, powdercoating or otherwise, will come off when scrubbed on a rock.  The nice thing about using Krylon semi-flat black spray paint is that you can touch them up when they get scraped on a rock.
